SAHI MATYA (in Brahmi) Bust of Sahi Matya with elongated skull to right, wearing earrings, pearl necklace and diadem with two ribbons and two small crescents; behind bust, club; before bust, rosette/wheel. Rev. Remnants of a fire altar. Göbl 305. Vondrovec, Type 305. Extremely rare. Good very fine.

The identity of this king is one of the remaining mysteries of the Alchon coinage. P. Tandon read the legend on the observe as SAHI LAKHANA, but K. Vondrovec offers a differing and more plausible reading as SAHI MATYA.
